Trainer Summary
Name: Faith Watson
Years of Experience: 30 in fitness & dance
Specialty: The Pilates method, dance
fitness, body weight training and related
techniques; assisting all body types, ages,
levels of fitness and physical challenges.
(Superpower: X-ray vision)
Training Focus: Core strength, muscle balance, non-diet weight management, flexibility, injury prevention, wellness lifestyle and holistic fitness.
Teaching Approach: Find fitness from the inside out. Everything starts in your center. How you move, feel, live--what you put in the middle of your life matters!
Secret Fitness Weapon: Intention. To be fit, you have to be well. Wellness means feeling good and having fun in your daily life. You have to intend to be well, no one can do that for you. Seek ways to enjoy taking care of yourself. Smile when you sweat. Decide how you will heal, choose what you will strengthen, and aim to free and unite your body, mind and spirit.
Qualifications and Background: Faith was the owner and program director of Exercise In Disguise. Her credentials include being a Certified Pilates Teacher with the Pilates Method Alliance and a Certified Personal Trainer with the National Strength and Conditioning Association. She is also an Official Zumba Instructor, and has completed accredited courses in the areas of Non-Diet Weight Management and Nutrition & Fitness. Faith continues her education with classes and research in sport-specific training, injury-specific rehabilitation, and Wellness Lifestyle Coaching.
Faith's professional employment history includes teaching and supervising Pilates programs in studios, private homes and dance schools. She's also provided general dance and fitness programs for Elgin Community College, NWS Jewish Community Center, numerous Park District programs and private clients.
Faith's Philosophy:
"I have always had a knack for reading bodies, finding connections, and understanding how to help people. I work to design thoughtful classes and interesting programs that will benefit a full range of people...and inspire them, too.
My philosophy centers around doing whatever works (not following dogma or only sticking to traditional regimes). I encourage students to enjoy the time they spend on themselves, and to appreciate their gifts & strengths as well as their challenges.
I am always available to personally answer students’ questions about their bodies, our classes, the Pilates method, and fitness/health in general.
I want you to take care, and find balance. Feel good and have fun. Be true to you."
EXERCISE IN DISGUISE (EID) began as a home-based training and education business, offering small group classes in Faith's home basement, personal training for private individuals, as well as master classes and workshops for offsite groups and clients. Now it is the area's first and only Alternative Fitness Studio, with a fast-growing list of students and classes.
